Compact Disc (CD) + Digital AlbumAfrican Rhapsodies is an enchanting new work for kora and orchestra that celebrates Africa’s magical 22-stringed harp and gives it the position of prominence granted for centuries to the violin, piano and flute. The work, arranged by Italian composer Davide Mantovani was recorded with BBC Concert Orchestra. The album includes guest appearances, notably by South African Cellist Abel Sealocoe and Gambian percussionniste Suntou Susso.
The album comes with 44 page booklet translated in French.

Ballaké Sissoko is my favorite kora player, and following his musical life has led me to some of my most beloved musical discoveries. This latest release is every bit as gorgeous as all of his prior work. And it is so clear how he brings the best out of each of his collaborators.

Truly mesmeric collection of music. Mahogany takes the listener to another level entirely and is quite wonderful. Thank you Jasdeep for this album which will be treasured! Having listened to the sitar concerto at Huddersfield in early 2020, I was looking forward to a recording. Veer (track2) feels very reminiscent of the concerto. Sanjanava and Enigma 7.5 are also superb. Can’t wait to see Jasdeep live again.

Very happy a colleague recommended Mdou Moctar to me after I discovered & fell in love with Tinariwen and this new (to me) desert blues sound! Mdou Moctar inject more of a psychedelic sensibility into their music rather than Tinariwen's drone, making it flavorfully distinctive, while still carrying that shining, twanging, sun-drenched sound we all love about Saharan desert rock. Love the grooving rhythms and the alternately snappy clean or drowned-in-effects guitar melodies. Excellent work!
